Google rolled
out Developer Preview of Android 7.1 for Nexus lineup of devices early November.
Back then, it said Google will release another update for Android 7.1, followed
by the final public release to the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) in
December. Now, a mobile carrier has listed the specific date for the roll out
of the update. According to Vodafone Australia website, Google will roll out
Android 7.1.1 Nougat for Nexus 6P on December 6. The update is 650MB in size
and bears build number NMF26F. The site reveals Android 7.1.1 has security
patch update for December 2016.
Huawei Nexus
6P users are advised to make sure their device is fully charged before
they download the update. Also, it is important you back up important data
such as photos, contacts, messages etc. Users will be prompted when
the Firmware Over-The-Air (FOTA) update is available for download. The
update can also be downloaded from System updates option in About tab of
Settings menu.

full details of how the update will be rolled out for users. It reads:

Day 1-3: 10,000 phones
are selected at random to be eligible for the update, users are either alerted
via FOTA Push Message or must check manually for the update
Day 4-13: an additional 10% of the remaining pool are selected per day and users must check manually for the update
Day 14: All devices are eligible for the update

This means that all
Nexus 6P users are expected to receive the Android Nougat 7.1.1 update by
December 20. However, Google hasn’t made the information official
yet. Google’s new update brings with it new features such as app shortcuts
and image keyboard support.
